Studio Policies & Guidelines:

First Time at Pilates by the Sea? Please note that group sessions (classes) are fitness-based, and are not intended or designed for rehabilitation.

  • Identify yourself to the instructor as a new participant.
  • If you are taking a class that uses Pilates apparatus, be sure to have an orientation to the specific equipment you will be using in class.
  • Expect helpful specific feedback and correction on exercise form.
  • Expect the instructor to move around and actively supervise the class.
  • Prior to registering, all necessary paperwork and initial assessments must be completed.
  • Please call in advance to schedule your appointment
With that in mind, we ask that the following rules be followed, so that everybody may enjoy a safe Pilates experience.
  • To minimize disturbance during class, please turn off all cell phones.
  • Discontinue eating & drinking coffee one hour prior to class or session.
  • Water is also available at the studio.
  • Arrive 10 minutes early for warm-up and apparatus set-up.
  • Wear comfortable-fitting (not baggy) clothing, such as tights, leotards, shorts and tank tops.
    - For women, please do not wear men’s t-shirts.
    - Men should wear proper tight-fitting underwear or cycle shorts. 
    - Shirts should be tucked into shorts.
  • Inform the instructor of any changes to your health status or of any newly acquired injury.
  • Grip socks are required during workout for your sanitary safety and are available for purchase at the studio. No shoes necessary.
  • Avoid wearing jewelry such as bracelets and necklaces, which may get caught in the springs.
  • Refrain from using lotions and creams as it increases risk of slipping. Abstain from wearing fragrances to class, as this may impact other students.
  • Long-hair needs to be tied back.
  • Chewing gum is not allowed.
  • Do not practice Pilates under the influence of alcohol or drugs (even prescribed drugs) which may affect your physical abilities such as balance.
